I have always loved making art. Thanks to my wonderful and supportive parents, I was able to pursue my creative interests from a very early age. I was born and raised in Southern California, where I was enrolled in Mission: Renaissance Fine Art Classes from childhood through adolescence. I was formally trained in the Gluck Method using chalk pastels, charcoal, watercolors, and oil paints. In high school, I also completed a course in AP Studio Art.
During college, I worked as a children's art instructor at Fibo Kids Art Academy. I taught art to children of all ages and levels (i.e., ages three to 18), in both studio and elementary school locations. As an instructor at Fibo, I taught one-on-one lessons, studio classes (2-12 students), summer camps (5-15 students), art birthday parties (10-15 students), general and special education in-school and after-school lessons (10-30 students), and art assemblies (50+ students).
While living in California, I made art across a variety of media and subject matter, including landscapes, still-life, and portraits in pastel, watercolor, graphite, charcoal, and oil paint. I completed many commissioned works, including oil portraits, for LA and OC clients. Over the years, I also donated numerous pieces for the All the Arts for All the Kids Foundation annual auctions for arts education, the proceeds from which provide funds for local arts grants and lessons.
I took a hiatus from oil painting to complete a PhD at The Pennsylvania State University, moving to central Pennsylvania in 2017. I did, however, illustrate a children's book for a local author, Hannah Evans, during this time. The book, entitled "The Letter" (2021), was written for Appalachian youth coping with loved ones struggling with substance use disorders. It received West Virginia University's Rural Communities Opioid Response Grant in 2022, and has been featured on Good Day PA! and the WV Charleston Gazette. "The Letter" is illustrated entirely in colored pencil and watercolor.
I returned to oil painting in fall 2022, when I joined the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania. Since then I have been dabbling more and more in portraiture and alla prima techniques.
I am currently based in south Texas and looking forward to having the opportunity to once again take commissions and contribute my work to community projects.
